20 November, Budapest, Hungary : Official Presentation of the White Paper to the President of the National Judicial Office

On 20 November, Vivien Whyte and Dániel Szabados were received by Dr. Tünde Handó, President of the National Judiciary Office of Hungary. The National Judicial Office is the public body in charge of the central administration of Hungarian justice. Vivien Whyte officially handed Mrs. Handó the White Paper for a Rechtspfleger / Greffier for Europe and presented her with the fundamental principles on which this ideal profession is based, namely: independence, the ability to make decisions and manage courts, public information and mediation. 17 November, Lisbon, Portugal : Official Presentation of the White Paper to the Secretary of State for Justice

On November 17, Vivien Whyte, Fernando Jorge and Antonio Marcal met with Ms. Anabela Pedroso, Secretary of State for Justice. Vivien Whyte officially presented the White Paper for a Rechtspfleger / Greffier for Europe to Ms. Pedroso who was very knowledgeable about the issue and is closely following the work of the EUR. Vivien Whyte presented the advantages of seeking a convergence of national professions based on the principles and the list of tasks presented in the White Paper. The role of the Rechtspfleger / Greffier for Europe in European judicial cooperation procedures was one of the points of focus in the discussion. 14 November, Tirana, Albania : EUR Participation to the SEJ 2 Project

The EUR was invited by the CEPEJ to present the White Paper for a Rechtspfleger / Greffier for Europe to the 10 Albanian courts participating in the SEJ 2 project. This project, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, aims to improve the efficiency and quality of justice in Albania. It follows a first project that resulted in recommendations that were used by the Albanian authorities in the development of a new legislative framework for the functioning of justice. The seminar of 14 November followed this series of reforms and aimed at studying the respective tasks, current and future, of the different professions. Also participating in this project as experts of the CEPEJ are Mr. Marco Fabri, an Italian researcher and Mr. Jon Jonsen, Law Professor from Norway. 31 October 2017, Tallinn, Estonia : Presenting the White Paper to the Ministry of Justice

On 31 October, Vivien Whyte officially presented the White Paper for a Rechtspfleger/Greffier for Europe to Mr Marko Aavik, Deputy Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Justice in charge of Court Services.

The meeting, which was also attended by EUR Vice President Ülle Pulk and a delegation of Estonian colleagues, enabled Mr Aavik and his advisors to compare the different professions in Europe and become familiar with the EUR’s project for their future. The exchanges focused on the name of the profession, career prospects, positioning in relation to judges and opportunities for convergence at European level.
